5 Signs You May Need Tire Service

mustang dearbornIf you buy a mustang dearborn your vehicle will be ready to roll. Over time, though, you will need to maintain your tires to ensure they are operating as efficiently as possible. Your tires are the most important feature of your vehicle. Without them, your vehicle can’t get you where you want to go. When you notice these telltale signs, get your tires checked as soon as possible.

Your tires are balanced on the wheels of your truck. If the balance is off, the tire will wobble and become unreliable. A wobbling tire can cause unsteady steering, and is a hazard to your safety. Wobbling can be caused by several things, including a sudden loss of tire pressure, a loss of the lead weight used to balance your tire, or other reasons. If you suddenly experience wobbling, put on your hazard lights, navigate to the right side of the road, and pull off onto the berm so you can call for roadside assistance.

Thin Tread

Your tires need tread in order to grip the road as you drive. A bald tire can be identified by its loss of tread. If you can insert a penny into the tread and still see the top of the president’s head, the tread is not sufficient to ensure traction. A bald tire can lead to skidding or a sudden flat tire. If one or more of your tires are bald, speak to a tire salesman to discuss your replacement options.

Nail in Tire

The puncture could cause a sudden loss of pressure while you’re driving at high speeds, such as on the highway. If you notice a nail stuck in your tire, but everything else seems fine, don’t be fooled into complacency. Have the tire repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avert a possible future problem.

Drying or Cracking

Rubber can break down over time. You may have a vehicle that you don’t drive much, so the tread and everything else is fine, but a dried out tire is just as dangerous as one with little tread. If you notice excessive drying or cracking on any of your vehicle tires, it’s time for a replacement.

Drifting or Pulling

mustang dearbornIf your car or truck pulls to one side while you’re trying to steer straight, your wheels can be out of alignment. Although technically this usually a wheel problem relating to alignment, it could indicate a problem with your tires. One possible reason is that your tires don’t match. Tires have specific sizes that fit on certain cars. If you mismatch the tire sizes, it could cause improper alignment.

The car or truck dealership where you purchased your vehicle may be able to provide you with a tire inspection that will determine if you definitely need tire service. If you have any suspicion at all that your tires aren't in the best shape possible, it's worth it to have them checked out.
